Director of High School Education
Must hold a license issued by Virginia Department of Education.
The license must be in one of the following types: Eligibility License, Postgraduate Professional License.
The license position area must be in Director.
The license must be in one of the following grades: 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The license status must be active.
Essential Duties Essential Job Functions:
Interpret, develop, and recommend policies and regulations that govern the overall operation of the high schools. Ensure achievement of the Virginia Standards of Learning. Ensure school compliance with local policies and regulations, state requirements, and Virginia Standards of Accreditation. Recommend budget expenditures and manage the fiscal resources. Review, analyze, and make adjustments to expenditures of budgeted items. Allocate staff and teaching positions to the high schools based on staffing guidelines. Ensure compliance to the staffing guidelines. Assist in planning and developing staff development activities for administrative staff. Provide mentorship and training for new administrators. Plan and monthly principal and associate principal meetings grounded in developing instructional leaders. Ensure that all schools have necessary supplies, equipment, and instructional materials. Provide assistance in the opening of new and/or redistricting of high schools. Supervise the educational specialist for student activities. Provide oversight of the specialty centers, and their application processes, to include bimonthly meetings with the coordinators. Provide leadership to special projects assigned by the Assistant Superintendent, Superintendent and/or the School Board. Provide assistance in the implementation of the evaluation system for employees. Approve and ensure correct procedures for secondary field trips. Ensure communication among various schools and departments within the division. Screen, interview, and recommend personnel to vacant administrative positions. Approve leave for school principals, and manage budgets that fund professional leave. Monitor travel expenses and leave for administrative staff. Respond to parental questions and complaints via telephone, conferences, and correspondence. Investigate and write responses to school concerns and complaints. Respond to principal concerns and requests. Review policies and regulations to ensure compliance by personnel. Serve on and chair committees. Attends work daily and is engaged in job responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned.
