Part-Time Special Education Paraprofessional We are looking for a paraprofessional who can work with small groups and support in the classroom. This individual needs to support teachers and follow the charter by inspiring and engaging students in a place-based school, using the local community and environment to teach academic concepts, while emphasizing hands-on, real-world learning experiences.

Our mission is to create a school that utilizes place-based education to foster autonomous, life-long learning through knowledge of and responsibility for the environment. This para will help cultivate cognitive skills while guiding students to appreciate the arts, their environment, their community and to learn through work and play.

We are looking for one who is a motivator and a learner with strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to respectfully communicate with children, parents, and colleagues. Through differentiated instruction, and by using a variety of styles and modalities, this para will be able to inspire learning through various approaches and create challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all children.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: • Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide support for special ed. students who are mainstreamed. • Work with special education students in small groups to teach, reteach, and reinforce curriculum in various subject areas. • Administer assessments in small group setting. • Help foster a positive classroom environment that will allow student learning, expression, and safety. • Set high expectations for student performance. • Support the teacher in helping to meet the needs of students with varied learning styles and abilities.
