Education Specialist - Health and Medical Sciences Coordinator
Description
The selected candidate will be responsible for administrative management and educational programs of Henrico County Public Schools including: School of Practical Nursing, Nurse Aide, Veterinary Science, Sports Medicine, Pharmacy Technician, and Emergency Medical Technician programs; promotes successful completion of students' educational goals. Essential Duties *Coordinates practical nursing, nurse aide, veterinary science, sports medicine, pharmacy technician and emergency medical technician programs at Hermitage ACE, Highland Springs ACE, and the Adult *Education Center *With assistance of the faculty, develops a master plan for theory and clinical experiences consistent with the philosophy and objectives of the school of practical nursing *Utilizes evaluation techniques to measure strengths and weaknesses in the curriculum *Evaluates clinical facilities with faculty and assists in negotiating contracts for clinical experiences for practical nursing, nurse aide, and pharmacy technician *Schedules clinical experiences for both practical nursing and nurse aide programs *Maintains lines of communication between schools, hospitals, and clinical sites *Assists in evaluating student progress in both Practical Nursing I and II *Counsels students and/or instructors about student progress *Keeps practical nursing students and parents of high school students informed of progress *Keeps accurate, current student records *Makes faculty teaching assignments *Provides coverage in absence of instructor by locating substitutes or acting as substitute *Strives to aid faculty members in reaching their full potential and professional growth *Plans and conducts faculty meetings using the democratic process *Orients new staff members to program, policies, and procedures *Evaluates Practical Nursing II Insructors annually. Collaborates with technical center principals in evaluation of Practical Nursing I Instructors *Recruits and interviews prospective students *Processes applications for admission into Practical Nursing *Serves as Financial Aid Officer to assist qualified students to receive Pell Grants and Guaranteed Student Loans *Cooperates with faculty and students in promotion of Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) activities *Serves as chairman of the Admissions and Promotions Committee *Serves on Advisory Committees *Responsible for correspondence related to the school *Prepares annual reports *Takes active role in budget preparation and requisitions supplies, equipment, and books for department *Determines the need and writes proposals for new programs or changes in current programs
