Description
Newcastle High School is seeking a passionate, inquisitive, and dedicated History Teacher to join our faculty for the upcoming academic year. We are looking for an educator committed to fostering historical literacy, facilitating critical analysis of historical sources, and developing critical thinking skills within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities Curriculum & Instruction: Design and implement engaging, standards-based history lessons (e.g., U.S. History, World History, or Oklahoma History) that utilize inquiry-based learning to challenge high school students. Historical Analysis: Direct and supervise meaningful analysis of primary and secondary sources that allow students to apply historical thinking skills and explore complex concepts.
Classroom Environment: Cultivate a classroom culture that encourages intellectual curiosity, mutual respect, and active student participation in historical discourse.
Assessment: Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide data-driven feedback to facilitate mastery of core historical principles.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Social Studies Department to align curriculum, share instructional best practices, and participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
Communication: Maintain professional communication with students, parents, and administration regarding academic growth and classroom expectations.
Job Qualifications Certification: Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in a Secondary Social Studies discipline (e.g., U.S. History, World History, or Government). Education: Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, effective classroom management techniques, and the ability to integrate modern educational technology into daily instruction.
