The certificate must be in one of the following grades: 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th.
The certificate status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
Description
Newcastle High School is seeking a passionate, inquisitive, and dedicated Science Teacher to join our faculty for the upcoming academic year. We are looking for an educator committed to fostering scientific literacy, facilitating hands-on laboratory experiences, and developing critical thinking skills within a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities Curriculum & Instruction: Design and implement engaging, standards-based science lessons (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, or Physical Science) that utilize inquiry-based learning to challenge high school students.
Laboratory Management: Direct and supervise safe, meaningful laboratory experiments that allow students to apply the scientific method and explore complex concepts.
Classroom Environment: Cultivate a classroom culture that encourages intellectual curiosity, safety, and active student participation in scientific discourse.
Assessment: Utilize formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and provide data-driven feedback to facilitate mastery of core scientific principles.
Collaboration: Work closely with the Science Department to align curriculum, share instructional best practices, and participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
Communication: Maintain professional communication with students, parents, and administration regarding academic growth and laboratory safety expectations.
Job Qualifications Certification: Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in a Secondary Science discipline (e.g., Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, or General Science).
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Secondary Science Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, effective classroom and lab management techniques, and the ability to integrate modern educational technology and laboratory equipment into daily instruction.
