Overview Newcastle Middle School is seeking a creative, energetic, and dedicated Science Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will foster a lifelong curiosity for the natural world by helping students explore scientific phenomena, conduct hands-on investigations, and develop critical thinking skills in a supportive laboratory environment. Primary Responsibilities Curriculum Development: Design and implement engaging science lessons aligned with the Oklahoma Academic Standards for Science (OAS-S), covering topics such as Physical Science, Life Science, and Earth/Space Systems.
Instruction: Guide middle school students through the scientific method and engineering design process, emphasizing inquiry-based learning, data analysis, and evidence-based claims. Laboratory Management: Maintain an organized, safe, and inspiring classroom and lab environment; manage scientific equipment, chemicals, and department budgets while strictly adhering to safety protocols. STEM Integration: Incorporate technology and hands-on projects to celebrate student achievement and real-world problem-solving.
Collaboration: Work with the science department and grade-level teams to integrate cross-curricular projects and participate actively in professional learning communities (PLCs).
Minimum Qualifications Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Middle Level Science, Intermediate Science, or a specific secondary science discipline. Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related field. Strong classroom management skills tailored to the unique needs of middle school students. Ability to demonstrate scientific techniques and provide constructive, encouraging feedback.
Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching middle school-aged students. Proficiency in integrating digital lab equipment (probeware) and technology into the curriculum. Experience with 5E instructional models or project-based learning (PBL). Schedule
