TITLE: HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELOR
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Arizona School Counselor certification
- Master's degree in school counseling
- 3 or more years of counseling experience preferred
- Fingerprint clearance card
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as Paragon may find acceptable.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience as a school counselor implementing the ASCA National Model
- Experience advocating for school counseling programs to all stakeholder groups
- Establishing professional relationships within the school and the school community to enhance student achievement
- Experience in the use of technology in research, school counseling program development, management, and delivery
- Actively involved in the school community
- Leadership experience
- Ability to work with diverse populations and cultures
- Desire for continued professional development
REPORTS TO: High School Assistant Principal
JOB GOAL: To promote student success through the implementation of a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses the academic, career, and personal/social needs of students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plans, organizes, and delivers the comprehensive school counseling program.
- Delivers and implements the guidance curriculum through the use of effective instructional skills and careful planning of structured classroom lessons and small group sessions.
- Implements the individual student planning component by guiding individuals and groups of students and their parents through the development of education and career plans. This includes regular transcript audit, course planning, and coaching through the pathways (AA, College, & Career).
- Implements the responsive services component through the effective use of individual and small group counseling, consultation and referral skills for students and families.
- Implements the systems support component through effective guidance program management and support for other educational programs.
- Uses data as a guide when deciding school counseling program direction and emphasis.
- Monitors the students on a regular basis as they progress in school.
- Collaborates with the counseling team, administration, teachers, and families.
- Meets weekly as a counseling team with the assistant principal.
- Uses the skills of leadership, advocacy and collaboration to create systemic change to improve the academic and career success of all students.
- Develops, updates and distributes 504's for students on their caseload.
- Coordinates with counseling team on SAT, PSAT, ASVAB, military and collect representative, dual and concurrent enrollment, ECAPs, threat assessments, West-MEC and seals.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as Paragon Management may from time to time assign.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 178 days per year. Hours normally 7:30am - 4:00pm.
EVALUATION: Annually at a minimum by the Assistant Principal
At the following locations
