Job Description: Newcastle Middle School is seeking a creative, energetic, and dedicated Art Teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts by helping students explore various mediums, techniques, and historical contexts in a supportive studio environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Curriculum Development: Design and implement engaging art lessons aligned with Oklahoma Academic Standards for Fine Arts, covering drawing, painting, ceramics, and mixed media.

Instruction: Guide middle school students through the creative process, from conceptualization to finished product, emphasizing both technical skill and individual expression.

Studio Management: Maintain an organized, safe, and inspiring classroom environment; manage art supplies, equipment (e.g., kilns, pottery wheels), and department budgets.

Student Exhibition: Showcase student work through school displays, local art shows, and digital portfolios to celebrate student achievement.

Collaboration: Work with the fine arts department and grade-level teams to integrate cross-curricular projects and participate in professional learning communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid Oklahoma Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Art (PK-12).

Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or a related fine arts field.

Strong classroom management skills tailored to the middle school age group.

Ability to demonstrate various artistic techniques and provide constructive, encouraging feedback.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching middle school-aged students.

Proficiency in integrating digital art and technology into the traditional art curriculum.

Active participation in local or state arts organizations.

Schedule: Newcastle Public Schools operates on a 4-day instructional week (Monday–Thursday).
