Job Title: High School Varsity Baseball Coach
Job Classification: Exempt
Supervisor: Principal and School Athletic Director
Job Objectives: The Head Baseball Coach is responsible for the overall leadership, development, and success of the high school baseball program. This includes organizing, instructing, and supervising student-athletes while promoting academic achievement, sportsmanship, and a positive team culture. The Head Coach will oversee all aspects of the program, including player development, program promotion, and compliance with all governing bodies.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Prior baseball coaching experience (high school or higher preferred)
• Demonstrated knowledge of baseball fundamentals, strategies, and skill development
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, staff, and community stakeholders
• Knowledge of and willingness to comply with all TSSAA rules and regulations
• Must meet all district and state coaching certification requirements
• CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Program Leadership & Development
• Direct and manage all aspects of the high school baseball program (varsity and feeder development)
• Promote the baseball program within the school and community to increase participation
• Establish program goals aligned with school and district expectations
• Build a culture of accountability, discipline, and sportsmanship
Coaching & Player Development
• Plan and conduct organized practices focused on skill development, conditioning, and team strategy
• Evaluate player performance and assign team roles/positions
• Provide instruction in baseball fundamentals, rules, and game strategy
• Support multi-level program alignment (middle school to high school development pipeline)
Game & Operations Management
• Coordinate game schedules in collaboration with the Athletic Director
• Supervise athletes during practices, games, and team events
• Ensure proper use, care, and inventory of equipment and facilities
• Assist with transportation, travel logistics, and game-day operations
Student-Athlete Oversight
• Monitor academic progress and enforce eligibility requirements
• Promote character development, leadership, and teamwork
• Maintain discipline and appropriate behavior standards
• Ensure student-athlete safety at all times
Compliance & Safety
• Adhere to all district, state, and TSSAA guidelines
• Follow proper procedures in the event of injury or emergency
• Maintain all required documentation (physicals, eligibility forms, insurance, etc.)
• Ensure compliance with school policies and risk management procedures
Communication & Community Relations
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with players, parents, and administration
• Organize parent meetings and program updates
• Represent the school in a professional manner at all times
• Collaborate with booster clubs and assist with fundraising efforts
Professional Development
• Attend coaching clinics, meetings, and professional development opportunities
• Stay current with trends and best practices in baseball coaching and athlete development
Additional Duties
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Athletic Director
Supervisory Responsibilities
• Direct supervision of student-athletes during practices, games, and team activities
• Oversight of assistant coaches and program staff (if applicable)
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
• Physical mobility including bending, stooping, walking, and reaching
• Availability for evenings, weekends, and extended hours during the season
