JOB SUMMARY A successful candidate will possess a Physics Certification or Florida Eligibility Letter and have experience teaching AP Physics and Physics. There are also many opportunities to be involved in coaching, athletics and/or supervising clubs. The teacher is the primary instructional delivery person in the classroom. Student achievement and growth are primarily dependent on the work and efforts of the classroom teacher. The position is demanding, varied and complex. The classroom teacher must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and be well trained in content knowledge and teaching strategies. OSS provides instructors with job training and professional development opportunities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Essential duties of this position include the following. Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks. Other related duties may be assigned. 1) Teach high school students in the mastery of Math & Physics skills (up to AP level courses). 2) Teach lessons according to Florida Course Standards and Advanced Placement Big Ideas. 3) Instruct multiple students in a classroom setting (class sizes range from 15-27 students). 4) Instruct students in small group tutoring or one-on-one – if needed 5) Monitor and record student progress. 6) Maintain appropriate licenses and training hours as required. 7) Comply with applicable District, State, local and federal laws, rules and regulations. 8) Adheres to all standards established by Florida Principles of Professional Conduct for the Education Profession. 9) Adhere to all OSS Employee Handbook Rules related to educators. 10) Attend work regularly Responsibilities and Duties 11) Perform other duties as assigned by Principal.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Master’s degree and appropriate coursework in content area to be taught. • 3.5 undergraduate GPA • 2 years AP Physics/Physics teaching experience • Experience coaching high school sports or experience advising high school clubs/co-curricular activities.
