Description
Position: Behavior Specialist
Qualifications
- Master’s degree from an accredited educational institution.
- Certified as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst, School Psychologist, or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
- At least 3-5 years of experience providing consultation/coaching within a school setting.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Director of Exceptional Student Education and Student Services
| RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES |
- Is able to demonstrate knowledge of the principles of human behavior and use this knowledge to promote socially significant behavior changes.
- Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with all members of the school community including: school staff, administrators, other professionals, students, and parents.
- Conducts continuous analysis and monitoring of data to make timely and accurate data informed decisions in regards to behavior change procedures/interventions.
- Ability to provide adequate and on-going supervision to Registered Behavior Technicians as dictated by the Behavior Analysis Certification Board requirements.
- Ability to assist school and IEP team members in making appropriate referrals for formal evaluation of students with disabilities.
- Can develop comprehensive behavior intervention plans that target the identified function of a behavior.
- Provides ongoing monitoring and training of comprehensive behavior intervention plans.
- Implement effective crisis management to include de-escalation strategies. Can coach and support other professionals with crisis management.
- Provides on-going coaching and support to special education teachers for implementation and facilitation of Evidence-Based best practices.
- Able to determine and provide when exceptional students require 1:1 or small group therapy/intervention.
- Attend, participate and guide interventions for RTI, MTSS, IEP and other meetings as applicable to increase skills or decrease aberrant behaviors.
- Provides ongoing training and coaching on least restrictive, evidence based behavioral interventions to all school staff (including transportation staff.)
- Performs other such duties as assigned by the Director of Exceptional Student Education program, the Superintendent of Schools, or the Board.
| PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS |
Medium Work: The work is performed in schools with frequent periods of light to moderate physical activity. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force as needed to move objects such as students and equipment. In an emergency, a Behavior Specialist may be required to maintain physical contact with a student temporarily for safety precaution utilizing district approved Crisis Prevention and Intervention techniques. Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.

Calendar Months: 11 Month
Salary Schedule: Instructional Support Pay Grade: Base
Salary and Benefits as determined and approved annually by Hendry County School Board.
| EVALUATION |
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board Policies for evaluation of administrative personnel.
