Newcastle Public Schools Job Title: Job Coach (Tier 2 Paraprofessional) Reports To: Adam Hull, Principal – Newcastle High School FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Work Schedule: 10-month position, hours aligned with school schedule Location: Newcastle High School

Position Summary: The Job Coach will assist students in developing employability skills and securing work placements in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services and local employers. This individual will support students through the process of exploring career options, obtaining job placements, and maintaining successful employment experiences. The Job Coach serves as a liaison among students, staff, families, and community partners to ensure each student’s success in work-based learning programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Collaborate with the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and school staff to identify and prepare students for work-based learning or job placements.

Support students in developing job readiness skills, including communication, attendance, teamwork, and problem-solving.

Assist students in completing job applications, resumes, and preparing for interviews.

Coordinate and attend meetings with students, parents/guardians, employers, and agency representatives to discuss progress, accommodations, and support needs.

Transport or accompany students to job sites as required by placement and district guidelines (in accordance with district transportation policies).

Monitor and document student performance, attendance, and progress at work sites.

Maintain accurate and confidential student records, reports, and data as required.

Support students in understanding workplace expectations, appropriate behavior, and professional communication.

Communicate regularly with the principal, special education staff, and community partners to ensure coordinated student support.

Perform other related duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.

Qualifications: Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree or higher preferred.

Prior experience working with high school students or individuals with disabilities preferred.

Experience in employment training, job placement, or workforce development a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must meet Oklahoma State Department of Education requirements for paraprofessional certification (Tier 2).

Valid Oklahoma driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (if student transport is required).

Completion of all required background checks and district onboarding requirements.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with students with diverse needs and abilities.

Ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders, including educators, parents, and employers.

Reliable organizational and documentation skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and district policy.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Must be able to stand, walk, and drive short distances as part of job coaching activities.

Work Environment: Work is performed both in school and community settings, including business sites.

May require flexible scheduling based on student or employer needs.

Compensation: Compensation will be based on the Newcastle Public Schools support staff salary schedule commensurate with experience and education level.
