Position: Indoor Track and Field Coach Reports to: Director of Athletics / Building Principal Location: Newcastle High School Application Deadline: Open until filled
Position Summary: Newcastle Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Indoor Track and Field Coach to lead and develop our high school student-athletes. The successful candidate will promote a positive team culture, ensure athlete safety, and uphold the district’s standards of sportsmanship, discipline, and academic excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Plan, organize, and supervise practices, meets, and team events for indoor track and field athletes.
Teach and model fundamental and advanced skills in sprinting, distance running, jumping, and throwing events.
Emphasize academic performance, character development, and team unity.
Ensure all student-athletes meet OSSAA eligibility and training requirements.
Maintain accurate attendance, inventory, and equipment records.
Collaborate with assistant coaches, athletic trainers, and school administration.
Promote compliance with all district, state, and OSSAA policies and safety protocols.
Represent Newcastle Public Schools in a professional and ethical manner at all times.
Qualifications:
Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate or adjunct certification preferred.
Previous coaching experience in track and field (indoor or outdoor) strongly preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of rules, techniques, and safety standards of the sport.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Ability to foster a positive and inclusive environment for all student-athletes.
Employment Terms:
Seasonal, stipend position per district pay schedule.
Must complete all required background checks and training prior to employment.
