Coach/Trainer
Description
Middle School Coach (Grades 6–8)
Reports To: Athletic Director / Principal
The Middle School Coach is responsible for developing student-athletes in grades 6–8 by teaching the fundamentals of the sport, promoting teamwork, and fostering a positive and safe environment. The coach will emphasize skill development, sportsmanship, academic achievement, and personal growth while preparing students to compete at an age-appropriate level.
- Plan, organize, and lead practices that teach fundamental skills, rules, and strategies.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Supervise and ensure the safety of student-athletes during practices, games, and travel.
- Maintain open communication with parents, students, and school staff.
- Promote academic success by monitoring eligibility and encouraging classroom achievement.
- Care for equipment, uniforms, and facilities; ensure proper storage and return.
- Model professional conduct and serve as a positive role model for students.
- Comply with school, district, and league rules, policies, and procedures.
- Prior coaching or playing experience in the sport preferred.
- Knowledge of the rules, skills, and strategies of the sport.
- Ability to teach fundamentals in an age-appropriate manner.
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain).
- Must meet district and requirements (fingerprint clearance, background check, training modules, etc.).
- Practices and games may occur after school, evenings, or weekends.
- Travel to away games required
