Job Summary:
The Student Assessment Research Analyst interprets, manages, and analyzes student assessment data in order to provide meaningful information to district and school leaders, teachers, students, and parents. This includes identifying areas for improvement in data management, maintaining data integrity, and analyzing data to assist with decision-making.
Essential Functions:
- Ensures data accuracy via validation processes and report discrepancies.
- Efficiently manipulates large datasets.
- Documents all data and research procedures.
- Communicates with district and state specialists to discuss assessment procedures.
- Creates visualizations and reports for students, parent, schools, and district administrators.
- Generates reports to track and monitor student/school performance trends and patterns.
- Analyzes, interprets, and translates complex data to various types of audiences (student, parents, teachers, school and district administrators).
- Identifies problems and recommends data-driven strategies to enhance teaching and learning practices.
- Conducts studies and compiles reports to support administrative decisions.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficiency in data tools such as R, Python, Excel, SQL, SPSS, SAS.
- Ability to use dashboard tools such as Power BI and Tableau.
- Ability to perform analyses using statistical techniques.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with technical writing skills.
- Ability to prioritize and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to work collaboratively.
Required Education and Qualifications:
- Requires a bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally-accredited university or college with a major in statistics, computer science, IT, data management, adminhistartion, economics, information science, or a related field
- Education in an assessment field is preferred.
Required Prior Experience:
- Requires two (2) years of successful experience in data analysis, applied research, education-related data management, information technology, quality assurance or other related field.
Note: The District reserves the right to make specific requirements for this position, however, when prior work experience has been evaluated to be particularly pertinent, some exchanges between training and experience may be authorized.

- Empowered to identify and interpret data trends and patterns to collaboratively make recommendations and decisions as needed.
Non-supervisory Interaction:
- Works with various department secretaries, coordinators, managers and directors as well as building administrators.
- Requires strong interpersonal skills along with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of people.
- Able to create and support a team-based environment within the program and department.

Working Environment:
- Work takes place in a typical office environment.
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
