The job of Mentor Coordinator is done for the purpose/s of coordinating the student mentoring program and related activities; providing information to others; and implementing and maintaining services within established guidelines and standards.
Essential Functions
- Assists with hiring new mentors for the purpose of determining eligibility and appropriate student matches.
- Assists with data collection for the purpose of ensuring accurate and timely data is available to improve services to students.
- Assists with coordinating schedules with all hourly employees at Summit (e.g. mentors, teaching assistants, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring services are available to students.
- Collaborates with Counselors, school registrars, mentors and case managers for the purpose of ensuring proper placement and transferring students.
- Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. student records, mentor files, etc.) for the purpose of providing up-to-date reference and complying with regulatory requirements and established guidelines.
- Orients mentors to mentor program (e.g. responsibilities, schedules, policies with regard to involvement with students, etc.) for the purpose of providing mentors with information regarding program objectives, identifying training needs and reviewing functions of mentor.
- Oversees the mentoring program (e.g. ensuring mentors are connecting with students as scheduled, check and connect process with each mentor, caseload summaries, initial training of new mentors, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring efficient and effective program outcomes.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g. reports, documentation, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information.
- Promotes mentoring program to eligible students (e.g. attendance at school functions, classroom presentations, communications with teachers, etc.) for the purpose of enrolling in program.
- Supervises the organization of mentor caseloads and boundaries for all YIC mentored students for the purpose of ensuring the program is meeting student needs and organizational expectations.
- Trains mentors for the purpose of accomplishing assigned functions.
