POSITION: ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SOCIAL WORKER/CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR OR ELEMENTARY SCHOOL COUNSELOR ~ ASHLEY ELEMENTARY

APPLICANTS MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER

We are currently looking to hire an Elementary School Social Worker/Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Elementary School Counselor to fill a position at Ashley Elementary School.

District Expectations for an Elementary School Social Worker/Clinical Mental Health Counselor or Elementary School Counselor:

  • Teach classroom lessons that promote positive behavior, emotional regulations, and social skills using research-based programs;
  • Implement and oversee required documentation;
  • Work within a tiered approach through collaboration with other school-based personnel about necessary student needs;
  • Provide individual and group counseling services for at-risk students;
  • Keep current on community resources to assist schools, families, and students;
  • Serve as a liaison between the school district, students, parents, and appropriate community services;
  • Collaborate on difficult cases with various agencies;
  • Collaborate with district personnel as needed (school social workers, behavior aides, RBT, school psychologist, nurse, etc.);
  • Coordinate the required community/parent meetings for suicide and sexual abuse prevention trainings;
  • Provide appropriate mental health trainings;
  • Assist in district wide crisis planning and response as guided by school and district leadership;
  • Work within the guidelines and laws that regulate the educational system;
  • Ability to work independently and as a key member of a team;
  • Promote conflict resolution and restorative practices to foster positive relationships and reduce disciplinary referrals;
  • Use data to assess student needs, evaluate program effectiveness, and inform decision-making;
  • Demonstrate cultural competence and responsiveness in supporting students from diverse backgrounds;
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Master’s degree or proof of enrollment from an accredited institution with evidence of a school social work/clinical mental health endorsement or school counseling;
  • Copy of DOPL license (if applicable)
  • Copy of USBE license (if applicable)
  • Provision of undergraduate and graduate transcripts
  • Evidence of employment working with school-age children;
  • Evidence of ability to work effectively with children, parents, staff, and community by means of a minimum of three letters of recommendation, at least one of which must be from a direct supervisor (does not have to be a current supervisor.)
