2025-2026 Pre-Kindergarten Teacher LMES

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Principal and/or designated administrator, the Teacher develops and implements an instructional program that supports the developmental and academic needs of all students. The Teacher fosters a nurturing environment, differentiates instruction, monitors student progress, and collaborates with families and support staff to help each child reach their full potential.

Qualifications:

• Holds or is eligible for Virginia teaching licensure with the appropriate endorsement 

• Demonstrates current and accurate knowledge of subject matter addressed in the curriculum

• Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures

• Excellent communication and computer skills

• Ability to work with diverse student, parent, and school community

Responsibilities:

• Plans instruction to achieve desired learning objectives that reflect current division and state curriculum standards

• Work cooperatively to modify curricula as needed for students with special needs according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans. 

• Creates a positive classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning

• Adapts and adjusts instructional techniques to meet individual needs, interests, and abilities 

• Provides a variety of ongoing and culminating assessments to measure student performance

• Initiates and maintains timely communication with parents/guardians and administrators concerning student progress 

• Works collaboratively with school staff, families, and community agencies to support student success

• Demonstrates professional, moral, and ethical behavior and exhibits personal integrity in all interactions

• Participates in an ongoing process of professional development

• Performs other duties as assigned by school administrator

Physical Requirements: Average amount of climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions required.
