Teacher Contract plus 10 additional days.
Salary according to School Board Teacher Salary Scale.
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Behavior Support Specialist provides expertise in behavioral assessment, intervention, and support for students in both the special education and general education settings. This role collaborates with teachers, parents, and school staff to develop and implement effective behavior management strategies that promote positive student outcomes and support inclusive education. The Behavior Support Specialist also leads and facilitates professional development to build staff capacity in implementing evidence-based practices, conducting FBAs and BIPs, and fostering safe, supportive learning environments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Psychology, Behavioral Science, or related field (Master’s preferred).
• Valid state credential or license in special education, school psychology, behavior analysis, or related field (e.g., BCBA, LBA) is highly preferred.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working with diverse student populations in both special education and general education settings.
• Strong understanding of IDEA, FAPE, AND IEP processes. • Proficiency in behavior management techniques, functional behavior assessments, and data collection.
• Ability to interpret behavioral data and support data-driven decision making.
• Excellent organizational, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, administration, students and families.
• Strong skills in coaching, adult learning, and collaborative problem-solving.
• Ability to travel to more than one work location in the course of the day and possess a valid drivers license.
