NATURE & SCOPE

SCHEDULE Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Exempt position). Year-round academic calendar with two-week breaks between terms.

OVERVIEW Spark Academy is a co-ed, residential treatment program specializing in autism and neurodiversity. We offer a year-round, project-based learning curriculum in a co-teacher classroom that fosters confidence and a love for education. As an accredited school, special education school, we are committed to providing individualized support to help students thrive academically and personally.

The Spanish Teacher will provide structured and engaging Spanish language and culture instruction in a co-taught, cross-curricular, project based learning classroom while supporting students with varying special education needs. This role requires creativity, patience, out of the box thinking and a strong understanding of how to adapt the Spanish curriculum to accommodate students who learn differently than a traditional direct instruction classroom offers. This position will give you the freedom to really have fun teaching again, without the stress and pressures of teaching all curriculum strands to prepare for the end of level tests; there are no high stakes tests given. This means you are free to think more creatively and enjoy teaching.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide engaging project-based Spanish instruction focused on building language fluency and cultural understanding. Adapt teaching strategies to support students with level 1 autism and other neurodiverse conditions. Collaborate with co-teachers and academic staff to design cross-disciplinary projects integrating Spanish into broader themes. Foster a supportive classroom environment where students feel safe practicing language and making mistakes. Adapt lessons to support diverse learners, including neurodiverse students and those with varying language backgrounds. Partner with Residential Coaches, therapists, and other team members to support students' academic and social-emotional development. Prioritize student relationships and meaningful engagement over rote memorization and standardized tests. QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Spanish, Secondary Education, or a related field required. Teaching license preferred (or in progress). Experience teaching Spanish or working in immersive language environments strongly preferred. Must be at least 20 years old to apply. Experience working with neurodiverse students is a plus. Strong proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking fluently). COMPETENCIES

Deep understanding of Spanish language and culture, with the ability to make learning fun, accessible, and relevant. Ability to create an immersive and supportive classroom environment for language acquisition. Strong collaboration skills for working within a co-teaching, cross-curricular, PBL model. Patience, adaptability, and cultural sensitivity in supporting a diverse student population. Organized and flexible in planning instruction that meets both curriculum goals and student interests. Commitment to fostering connection and confidence in language learners.
