Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning is a small charter school in Perry, Utah serving students in kindergarten through eighth grade. We are seeking a special education teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. At Promontory, we engage students in their own learning processes and empower them to be leaders of their own learning. Position Overview: The Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with IDEA and Utah State Board of Education Special Education Rules. The teacher collaborates with general education staff, families, and related service providers to foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Ideal Candidate Will: Be passionate about teaching and advocating for students with disabilities Work well on a collaborative team Use data to make decisions Have a growth mindset Communicate effectively with parents, educators, and related service providers Key Responsibilities: Responsible for the education of students with disabilities Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal guidelines Write and conduct IEP meetings, ensuring compliance and parent engagement Provide direct instruction, accommodations, and modifications based on student needs Implement best practices in instruction, positive behavior supports, and classroom management Collect, analyze, and document progress monitoring data Maintain special education student files and ensure timely, accurate documentation Train and supervise special education paraeducators Collaborate with general education and RTI teams to adapt curriculum and classroom environments Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and support strategies Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture that promotes student independence and self-advocacy
