Job Summary
The Technology Support Specialist provides hardware and software support for district staff and students. The incumbent is responsible for on-site repair of various electronic devices and troubleshooting applications as needed.
Essential Functions
- Troubleshoots and repairs devices on premise, including PCs, MACs, Chromebooks, various laptops, printers, and copiers.
- Works with staff at the site to troubleshoot various related technology, such as smartboards and other classroom audio/visual equipment.
- Provides basic network troubleshooting at the site.
- Installs, provisions, and updates software on devices using the desktop management platforms in use by the district.
- Provides basic support for staff and student computer accounts.
- Gives guidance on basic application installation and troubleshooting for all district supported applications.
- Manages and resets access points at the site as needed.
- Works with Network Engineers in supporting the school and district network infrastructure.
- Supports IP and USP based phones.

Required Education and Qualifications
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Requires one of the following certifications:
- CompTIA A+ Certification or obtain within the first three years (provisional status) of hire.
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate or obtain within the first three years (provisional status) of hire.
- The following certifications are preferred:
- G Suite Certification.
- Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE)
Required Prior Experience
- Requires a minimum o f three (3) years of successful experience in hardware and software troubleshooting and repair.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Skill in the repair of computers, standard printers, and multi-function printers and/or copiers.
- Ability to manage Active Directory accounts.
- Excellent communication and public relations skills.
- Knowledgeable in the use of the following applications:
- G Suite/Google;
- Office 365 Applications and Administration;
- Ivanti;
- LanSchool;
- Canvas;
- Focus School Software;
- Filebound and attached scanners;
- curriculum applications used by the district; and
- other software in use by the district and school.

- Interacts positively with students, teachers, principals, and other district personnel.
Supervisory Responsibility
- Not applicable.
Budget Responsibility
- Responsible for utilizing and tracking purchase card usage related to responsibilities.
- Follows all district purchasing guidelines.
- Collaborates with site administration to ensure appropriate use of the site's technology budget.
Working Environment
- Work takes place in a typical school or office environment.
- Incumbent assigned to work at the Bates Food Central Kitchen may be required to work around an industrial kitchen, but does not work on any kitchen machinery.
- Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.
