Intermediate School Classroom Special Education Teacher, grades 4-6
Must hold a license issued by Utah State Office of Education.
The license position area must be in one of the following areas: Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, Mild/Moderate Disabilities, Special Education (General).
The license must be in one of the following grades: 4th, 5th, 6th.
The license status must be active or about to graduate from a state-approved teacher preparation program.
Description
Special Education Teacher
Description: This hybridized class includes students who require more support than a general education classroom, but not qualify for a functional skills placement. The teacher will be working with these students to help them access their individual academic goals and supporting classroom instruction in other academic areas as aligned with the Utah State Core Standards. A Special Education license or current enrollment in a SPED program is required. Experience in Applied Behavior Analysis is preferred.
Essential Functions: Implements the assigned program of study. Fosters a classroom climate conducive to learning. Utilizes instructional management systems that increase student learning and maximize time on task. Develops and implements Individual Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with school policy. Monitor student progress towards achieving instructional objectives and goals on the IEPs. Communicates effectively within the educational team and with parents on a regular basis. Meets professional responsibilities. Maintains and upgrades professional skills. Maintains professional work habits. Promotes and maintains positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships. Adheres to the teacher code of conduct. Performs other job related duties a s assigned by the Principal, Behavior Services Coordinator, and the Regional Director Conduct transition assessments. Provide transition instruction. Draft annual transition plans. License/Certifications/Skills Bachelor's Degree (Required) Teaching Certification (Required) Special Education Certification (Required or in progress) Reports to building Principal
Compensation: $50,216.00 - $87,741.00 per year* *Contingent/offered based on appropriate licensure and experience. This position is also eligible for an additional $9,350.00 in educator salary adjustment pay which is determined by a valid, current state license per Utah Code 53F-2-405 and licensure remaining in good standing.
