Job Summary:
The Groundskeeper performs landscaping tasks using power equipment and hand tools to maintain the facility’s grounds.
Essential Functions:
- Performs a variety of grounds maintenance duties.
- Operates gang mowers, tractor drawn mowers, and trimming equipment.
- Mows, trims, weeds, plants, prunes, fertilizes, and sprays to generally maintain lawns, shrubs, trees, and grounds.
- Operates snowplow and other snow removal equipment to remove snow from sidewalks, parking areas, etc.
- Maintains, lubricates, and makes minor repairs and/or adjustments to equipment.
- Assists in laying sod.
- Assists in installing sprinkler systems.
- Assists in a variety of concrete work.
Non-essential Functions:

Required Knowledge and Skills:
- Skills in using hand tools, small and large power tools, gardening tools, pruning shears, etc.
- Skills in operating gas-powered lawn mowing equipment, e.g. walk-behind or large gang-type riding lawn mower.
- Skills in using manlifts to reach high elevations while pruning trees.
- Skills in using Hauling & Towing equipment trailers.
- Knowledge of loading and securing equipment on a trailer.
- Skills in using trimming and pruning equipment.
Required Education, Training and Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Requires a current and valid driver’s license.
Required Prior Experience:
- Prior experience is preferred, but not required.
Note: The District reserves the right to make specific requirements for this position, however, when prior work experience has been evaluated to be particularly pertinent, some exchanges between training and experience might be authorized.

Working Environment:
- Work takes place primarily outdoors in all seasons, types of weather, and air quality, including 100 plus degrees and below freezing temperatures.
- Work takes place around and near play fields and playground equipment, care must be taken to keep students and school staff safe.
- Work is primarily at ground level, with occasional high work from ladders or manlifts.
