Description
Newcastle Public Schools is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer IT Intern to support our Technology Department during the busy summer maintenance season. This is an excellent opportunity for a student or aspiring IT professional to gain hands-on experience in hardware repair, asset management, and technical troubleshooting within a large-scale educational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Hardware Maintenance: Perform diagnostic tests and physical repairs on district Chromebooks and peripheral devices.
Inventory Management: Assist in auditing and updating the district’s central inventory system to ensure accurate tracking for the upcoming school year.
Technical Support: Work alongside the IT team to troubleshoot software issues, configure devices, and assist with classroom technology deployments.
Special Projects: Support the team with cabling, hardware staging, and other technology-related infrastructure tasks as needed.
Work Schedule & Compensation:
Duration: June and July only.
Hours: Part-time (specific hours to be coordinated with the Technology Director).
Pay: $10.00 per hour.
Job Qualifications Technical Aptitude: Basic understanding of computer hardware (specifically Chromebooks) and common software applications.
Attention to Detail: Ability to follow technical manuals and maintain accurate digital records.
Reliability: Strong work ethic and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Communication: Professional demeanor when interacting with district staff and team members.
Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and perform repetitive tasks (like screen replacements) with precision.
