Job Title: INSTRUCTIONAL COACH (High School-Core Academic)

Position Purpose:
The instructional coach will work collaboratively with teachers, principals, and supervisors of curriculum and instruction to provide embedded professional development to promote the practices of a Professional Learning Community through the implementation of best practices with a focus on improving student achievement.
Qualifications
· Proven leadership skills
· Effective written and verbal communication skills
· Valid Tennessee Professional License
· Minimum of 5 years of successful classroom teaching experience (in the assigned Core Academic Area)
· Strong knowledge of State Standards
· Strong knowledge base of standards-based classrooms and best practices

Duties
· Facilitating grade-level PLCs.
· Work collaboratively with assigned classroom teachers to establish realistic and measurable objectives related to both the teacher’s individual professional development and student learning.
· Support the continuous professional growth and improvement of teacher instructional skills through coaching and collaborative problem solving.
· Observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and coaching to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement and innovation. When applicable, model teaching strategies with students in the classroom.
· Plan and provide appropriate staff development for teachers, administrators, and staff.
· Work with teachers to analyze and interpret student data and use findings to develop and apply instructional strategies.
· Develop curricular or behavioral support materials as needed.
· Disseminate information regarding current research and significant developments on the state and national levels in assigned area.
· Provide any needed support to teachers on state initiatives
· Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required.
· Comply with federal and state law, State Board of Education rules and regulations, and local board policy.
· Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with evaluation procedures, policy, and regulations of the Tennessee Department of Education.

Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer; standard instructional equipment
Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Frequent walking
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may lift and move text books and classroom equipment (occasional lifting of 15-30 pounds)
Environment: Work inside, may work outside; regular exposure to noise, frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours
