Position: Principal, Elementary
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or related educational field from an accredited educational institution preferred.
- Five (5) years teaching and administrative experience at the Elementary Level.
- Satisfactory completion of the principal training program.
- Valid Florida certification in Administration and Supervision or Educational Leadership.
- Satisfactory criminal background check.

RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES |
- Exercise proactive leadership in promoting the vision and mission of the District’s Strategic Plan.
- Direct and implement the vision of the District’s early learning programs.
- Direct, coordinate, and implement summer voluntary early learning programs.
- Recruit, retain, develop, and evaluate a high-quality and diverse faculty and staff.
- Provide a comprehensive early learning instructional program to address the diverse needs of the school population in compliance with federal, state, and District requirements.
- Oversee parent engagement component of the school.
- Develops guides and other support materials needed by the educational programs.
- Collaborate with the identification, determination of eligibility for, and student enrollment.
- Direct the screening of students, in coordination with MTSS teams, to ensure appropriate student placements and transitions.
- Provide oversight to ensure successful implementation of activities.
- Provide resources and support to teachers and families.
- Maintain a resource center for teachers and parents.
- Direct the development of curriculum selection, implementation, and monitoring.
- Administer the Exceptional Student Education, English as a Second Language, and 504 programs and requirements.
Personnel Action Services
- Request, orient, and assign substitute teachers.
- Supervise the onboarding/orientation of new employees to the school.
- Develop personnel assignments and duty rosters.
- Administers negotiated employee contracts in the appropriate manner at the school site.
- Coordinate the school’s in-service program.
- Develop individual professional development plans as required.
- Supervise personnel, conduct annual performance appraisals, and make recommendations for appropriate employment action.
- Provide training programs, assistance and feedback to personnel as required.
- Develop the master teaching schedule and assign teachers according to identified student achievement needs.
- Facilitate personnel development to assure that the school will realize maximum value from each of its employees through in-service, programs for new teachers, and other developmental activities.
- Provide feedback and assistance to employees as needed.
School Operation/Delivery Systems
- Lead the daily operations of the school.
- Supervise, monitor, and verify the accurate and timely completion of data collection and reporting requirements.
- Develop and monitor the school budget as assigned.
- Formulate and implement general school policies and regulations.
- Develop positive school/community relations and effective communication and act as liaison between the school and community as required.
- Supervise all facets of the registration process, including but not limited to, the production of the curriculum guide and related materials.
- Supervise the production of pre-planning materials including handbooks.
- Approve school-sponsored activities and maintain a calendar of all school events.
- Conduct student orientation programs.
- Implement the code of student conduct and establish procedures that encourage student behavior consistent with the school goals.
- Maintain visibility and accessibility on the school campus.
- Coordinate schedules for extracurricular activities and provide supervision for activities as required.
- Confer with students, parents, and teachers to resolve problems and facilitate learning.
- Implement the Student Progression Plan.
- Assume responsibility for control and direction of students related to suspensions from school, suspensions from the bus and school in accordance with board policies and statutes.
- Establish guidelines for proper student conduct and effective disciplinary procedures and policies for the school.
- Interpret and implement the District’s Code of Conduct.

Leadership
- Develop plans to meet long-range facility needs at the assigned school.
- Provide leadership in developing and implementing goals and priorities of the District and school.
- Provide leadership in the planning and implementation of school improvement initiatives.
- Implement state statutes, School Board policies, and administrative directives.
- Serve as the administrative head of the school.
- Follow procedures used in the event of school crises and/or civil disobedience and provide leadership in the event of such incidents.
- Act quickly to stop possible breaches of safety, ineffective procedures or interference with operations.
- Use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to guide individuals and groups to task accomplishment.
- Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the Superintendent, or the Board.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS |
Ability to actively perform work in classroom, office, and other business and community settings. Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (typically involving frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and lifting). Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting. Exposure to weather conditions. Ability to travel outside the district for a variety of meetings and conferences.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT |
Calendar Months: 12 Month
Salary Schedule: Administrative Pay Grade: Base
Salary and Benefits as determined and approved annually by Hendry County School Board.
This position is held at the pleasure of the local agency employer and is not subject to civil service protections.

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with School Board Policies for evaluation of administrative personnel.
