POSITION: WAREHOUSE SPECIALIST

 
SUMMARY
Maintains and conducts the inventory of property and equipment.  Assists with storage area and warehouse operations, and with deliveries and pick-ups.  May handle and maintain, miscellaneous and/or perishable items.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  1.  High School Diploma
  2. Six months experience in moving equipment or supplies, or shipping and receiving, or counting inventory required.
  3. Prior experience with data entry and computer skills preferred.
  4. Verbal and written communication skills required.
  5. Valid Driver’s License required; Arizona Driver’s License required within 10 days of hire date.  Must not have accrued six-points against Driver's License within the past three-years.
  6. Any equivalent combination of education or experience that meets the minimum requirements will be accepted. 
  7. Fingerprint background check required. 
 
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
THE LIST OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS IS NOT EXHAUSTIVE AND MAY BE SUPPLEMENTED.
 
Receive incoming shipments and checks accuracy of items received against invoice, packing slip and purchase order, inspect for damages.  Ensures that assigned property control numbers are affixed to proper items and delivered to schools or departments as necessary.
 
Assembles classroom and office furniture, science kits, or other materials in accordance with established procedures.  Performs minor repairs or refurbish items as needed.
 
Plans efficient delivery routes in accordance with established procedures.  Assist with the delivery and pick up of various equipment, materials and/or perishable items, such as insect colonies or live animals.
 
Coordinates the packing, removal and positioning of property and equipment to and from sites.   Arranges for movement to assigned site or area.  Operates a motor vehicle to pick up and deliver property, equipment, kits and supplies as required.
 
Assists in organizing supplies, equipment, furniture, science kits, and inventory within warehouse.  Maintains warehouse and outside storage areas according to established safety procedures.
 
Conducts physical inventories of sites to determine location and condition of property and equipment.  Data enters the appropriate information into computer system. 
 
Use computer system to maintain records of requests, orders and inventory, and for e-mail correspondence.
 
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
May handle and maintain miscellaneous and/or perishable items, such as insect colonies or live animals.
 
MENTAL TASKS
Communicates.  Reads.  Evaluates written materials.  Comprehends.  Ability to understand instructions from written, graphic and oral materials and from observation of others.
 
PHYSICAL TASKS
Work involves the performance of duties where considerable physical exertion is required as a normal part of the job.  Assistance is normally available to perform unusually physically demanding tasks.   Work may involve lifting and carrying objects weighing as much as 75 pounds up to 50 yards as a regular part of the job.  Climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, walking and sitting for extended periods of time may be required as a normal part of the job.  Employees must not have any limitations of motion, and vision and hearing should be rated as acceptable to obtain the required driver’s license.  Verbal communicative ability may be required of public contact positions.
 
EQUIPMENT AIDS, TOOLS, MATERIALS
Uses various office equipment, telephone, copier, computer, printers, bar code scanners and calculators.  Uses various moving and safety equipment such as trucks, hand trucks, hand tools, back support devices, and protective, safety equipment.
 
WORKING CONDITIONS
Indoors – warehouse environment.  Outdoors.  Exposure to noise, dusts, allergens, gas, fumes, traffic conditions and all weather and climate conditions.  Contact with employees, students and the public.  May need to work in small, cramped areas.
