The Iron County School District is seeking a Part Time On-Call Certified Interpreter/ Translation Services Paraprofessional (Spanish) to work up to 27.5 hours per week.
This position will remain open until filled.
The On Call Certified Interpreter/ Translation Services Paraprofessional works under the direction of the Special Education Director to provide on-call educational interpretation and translation services for students, parents and district employees in formats such as IEP meetings, phone calls, Special Education documents and other school related documents and information that will be provided to parents.
The essential functions duties and responsibilities may include the following. Regular, reliable worksite attendance and timeliness is an essential job function to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Interprets for school functions as needed.
Interprets for Individualized Education Plan meetings with parents as needed.
Interprets for Student, Parent Behavior meetings as needed.
Assists in note taking for meetings as needed.
Provides interpretation services for parents meetings in a conference call or through a virtual meeting.
Reviews AI translated documents for accuracy and clarification as needed.
Follows the code of ethics for certified interpreters.
Interacts with parents, as needed in order to support the language development of each student
Able to interpret both receptively (having the skills needed to understand what the person with a disability is saying) and expressively (having the skills needed to convey information to the person with a disability).
Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance is required
Operates various types of office equipment such as computers, copy machines, etc.
Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Zoom, Google docs, and Google Meet, and check email and phone messages frequently.
Must be willing to learn and use various computer systems and software as needed.
Complies with established district policies and procedures.
