Job Title: Grounds Maintenance
Job Summary
The Tooele County School District is seeking Grounds Maintenance to oversee the care and maintenance of our outdoor facilities, including synthetic turf athletic fields, natural turf athletic fields, playgrounds, trees, irrigation, and landscaped areas district-wide. They will help maintain a safe and sanitary facility for students, employees, and the public. They will ensure that all assignments are completed in a safe, proper, and timely manner.
Key Responsibilities
· Conduct regular inspections of playground equipment and surfaces, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and best practices.
· Collaborate with athletic staff and other departments to support events, practices, and community activities.
· Maintain inventory of grounds maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring proper function and safety.
· Address and resolve grounds maintenance, turf health, and safety compliance issues.
· Maintain all irrigation systems including clocks, valves, backflows, sprinklers, and drainage.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Experience and knowledge of running all lawn care equipment
· Knowledge of how to operate equipment safely to prevent injury to self or others that are in the area
· Knowledge of how sprinkler systems operate. This would include but is not limited to timers, rotary sprinklers, and drip systems.
· Knowledge of how to repair sprinklers properly.
· Knowledge of how to drive vehicles with trailers and equipment attached.
· Knowledge of how to remove snow with snow plows and Salters.
· Knowledge of how to fertilize and weed control safely and properly.
· General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, construction.
· Assist with completing work orders as assigned.
Safety Requirement
· Follows all applicable safety rules, procedures, and regulations governing the proper use of tools and power equipment used in performing duties.
· Wear appropriate safety gear, including masks, as needed.
· Must comply with the school district's chemical hygiene program and follow the GHS protocol.
Responsibility Responsibilities include working under limited supervision using standardized practices and methods, completing tasks efficiently and economically, and maintaining a positive work environment while serving a large, diverse group of individuals.
Non-Essential Functions Other duties as assigned. Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and a significant amount of fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing. Requires working in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, wind, heavy rain, snow, and freezing temperatures.
Qualifications: 21 years of age or older
Job-related experience is desired.
Valid Utah Driver’s License & Evidence of Insurability.
Experience in a K-12 Education or public employment environment.
Contract
Support Professional Employees 12 Month Employee
Starting Salary: Support Professional F2 $22.29 an hour
Benefit Eligible, full-time rate
