Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to support students with diverse learning needs. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to collaborative, student-centered education, integrating Waldorf-inspired methods with Individualized Education Plan (IEP) accommodations. This role requires flexibility, creativity, and a deep commitment to inclusive education within our charter school setting.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Support: Develop and implement individualized learning plans (IEPs) to support students with special needs in alignment with Waldorf pedagogy.
Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers, parents, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to ensure students receive appropriate supports.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies to meet their evolving needs.
Intervention & Differentiation: Provide targeted interventions in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning, adapting methodologies for each student.
Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely IEP documentation, progress reports, and compliance with state and federal special education laws.
Training & Support: Offer guidance and training to faculty on best practices for supporting diverse learners in a Waldorf-informed classroom.
Community Engagement: Foster a warm, inclusive environment that supports students in developing confidence, independence, and a love of learning.
Qualifications & Skills
Required:
Utah Special Education Teaching License (or eligibility to obtain one before the start of the school year)
Experience developing and implementing IEPs
Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and behavioral supports
Excellent collaboration and communication skills
Ability to adapt instruction to align with Waldorf principles and developmentally appropriate practices
Preferred:
Experience in Waldorf or holistic education settings
Background in LETRS, Singapore Math, or other evidence-based interventions
Training in social-emotional learning and trauma-informed teaching
Experience working in a charter school environment
