Assistant Director – Mountain Sunrise Academy

Position Summary

Mountain Sunrise Academy is seeking an Assistant Director to support the Executive Director in the daily operations, administration, and growth of the school. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic leader with a passion for Waldorf education, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to fostering a nurturing and inclusive school environment.

Key Responsibilities

School Leadership & Administration:

  • Support the Executive Director in executing the school’s vision, mission, and educational goals.

  • Assist with policy development, school compliance, and implementation of school-wide initiatives.

  • Serve as a key leader in maintaining a positive school culture and addressing student, staff, and parent concerns.

  • Represent the school at board meetings, community events, and other engagements as needed.

Faculty & Staff Support:

  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to ensure alignment with Waldorf pedagogy and school values.

  • Assist in the hiring, onboarding, and professional development of faculty and staff.

  • Provide mentorship and instructional support to teachers in classroom management and curriculum implementation.

  • Help coordinate substitute teacher coverage and staffing needs.

Student & Family Engagement:

  • Support student behavior management and uphold the school’s SHINE model (Shows respect, Head, heart & hands, Imagination & creativity, Nice words & deeds, Excellence).

  • Work with faculty to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

  • Communicate with parents regarding student progress, discipline, and school updates.

  • Help plan and coordinate school events, festivals, and community-building activities.

Operations & Compliance:

  • Assist in overseeing day-to-day school operations, including scheduling, safety protocols, and emergency preparedness.

  • Support the school’s adherence to state and charter compliance requirements, including reporting and documentation.

  • Coordinate with maintenance and administrative teams to ensure a well-functioning school environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Administration, or a related field (Administrative license preferred). 

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an educational leadership or administrative role.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple responsibilities and support a collaborative school culture.

  • Experience in student behavior management and restorative discipline practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a charter school setting.

  • Strong knowledge of Waldorf education principles and child development.

  • Familiarity with Utah state education policies and compliance requirements.
