Roles and Responsibilities: As an Early Intervention Vision Specialist you will: -Perform the duties of an emissary for the USDB Parent Infant Program for the Blind and Visually Impaired (PIPBVI). -Provide appropriate programming for blind/visually impaired students, birth to 3 years of age. -Prepare and write lesson plans for each student -Generate information/reports on children as appropriate. -Follow appropriate curriculums, as provided. -Provide effective home visits. -Advise and teach parents in the area of vision impairment. -Assist parents in embedding visions activities within the child’s everyday routines. -Keep appointments with families. -Provide and maintain equipment/materials. -Serve as Early Intervention (E.I.) team member. -Follow up on referrals. -Take a collaborative role at E.I. staffing meetings, IFSP and initial IEP meetings and student transitions and aids in IFSP success through appropriate assessments, including assessment of vision functioning, goal development and follow through of the IFSP. -Attend training sessions and workshops as assigned by program administrators. -Coordinate with PIPBVI supervisor and program director. -Travel required (to home visits, meetings, workshops, etc.)
