Athletic Coaching Requirements 
 

• A completed San Carlos Unified School District (SCUSD); Online Application. www.scbraves.net/Employment
•  
• Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card/Verification. Application for IVP card will be accepted, pending approval.
•  
• All Head Coaches MUST have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a head high school coach.
•  
• Must have a valid CPR card from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
•  
• All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the NFHS First Aid, Health And Safety For Coaches course.
•  
• All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching course.
•  
• All head or assistant coaches, whether paid or volunteer, must complete the NFHS Concussion in Sports course.

 
All head coaches must have a valid an Arizona Coaching Certificate or must complete the NFHS Level 1 Certification by taking a

• NFHS Sport Specific course or Teaching Sports Skills course (along with other mandated courses)  
• NFHS Sport Specific Courses offered include: Basketball, Volleyball, Football,
• Wrestling, Baseball, Softball, Track & Field, AACCA Spirit Safety 

 
Spirit line coaches (upon hiring) are also required to have a current AACCA Spirit Safety Certification and attend a NFHS Spirit Rules course each year through the A.I.A.*

*Each course may have a separate fee and must be paid at time of taking the specific course. Once an applicant has taken and passed the course (s), they will then have to provide a copy of their certificate (s) upon submission of application.
