Primary Purpose

- Know and effectively communicate the Division philosophy and mission.
- Practice personal hygiene and proper sanitation procedures at all times.
- Assist in the preparation of food (batch cooking; restock items between serving periods).
- Serve students and staff at the cafeteria counter.
- Remove used dishes and assist in the cleaning of counters, tables, and furnishings in the dining area.
- Perform dishwashing duties of all cooking, serving, and eating utensils tools used daily.
- Assist in keeping all areas in the kitchen and dining area neat and clean. Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe cafeteria/work environment.
- Maintain the trash and garbage collection area in a neat and sanitary fashion.
- Assist in the organization and storage of food, supplies, and equipment. All incoming freight must be dated and stored in the appropriate storage facility.
- Perform related duties as required including duties at special meal functions.
- Cashiering responsibilities - learn and correctly operate the Point of Sale system.
- Learn and execute all SNP rules and regulations for compliance and Offer vs. Serve and any new regulations implemented.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager/Lead, Coordinator, Director of Operations, or Superintendent.

Equipment
- Uses standard equipment such as cash register, oven, dish washer, freezer, fryer, ice machine, etc.
- Uses calculating devices.
- Ability to design nutritious meals in accordance with federal and state guidelines
- General knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing and serving meats, breads, vegetables and other foods on a large scale according to written and oral instructions
- General knowledge of the use or care of food preparation equipment
- Organizational and time management skills
- Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and use calculators
- Ability to problem-solve job-related issues
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding school district financial and other information
- Skill in the use of standardized and specialized kitchen utensils and equipment preferred
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, students and school staff
- Requires some walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Demonstrated aptitude for successful performance of the responsibilities outlined
- Such alternative to the above qualifications as the School Board may feel appropriate and acceptable
- Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to use equipment; see and read printed material with or without vision aids; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; to bend, to stoop, to walk and to reach overhead. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential tasks.
