Homebound teacher
Part-time, up to 10 hours per week
Reports to: Director of Special Education
Department: Special Education
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
- Utah Teaching License
- Special Education Certification
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
TASK: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities. Broad Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Provide individualized instruction to meet needs of student
- Provide IEP support
- Collect and manage student data
- Collaborate & communicate with case manager monthly
- Ability to work with students that may suffer from acute or catastrophic illness or injury
- Ability to provide instruction and experiences in a variety of settings
- Ability to implement instructional activities for maximum effectiveness.
- Ability to work effectively with peers, parents, administrators, and others
- Ability to collaborate and work as a team
- Ability to communicate well with others
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
TASK: Planning and Preparation. Provide a learning environment that meets the needs of students with diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, learning styles and special needs.
- Implement instructional activities in collaboration with teacher of record (case manager). Alignment with IEP or 504 plan
- Provide clear, compelling engaging instructional assistance to students
- Deliver instructional strategies that contribute to a climate where students are actively engaged
- Pick up and deliver student assignments
TASK: Collaboration. Collaborate with students, parent, school staff, and other appropriate persons to assist in meeting student standards as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with other professionals, student, and parents
- Maintain effective communication with parents to solicit input in relation to student needs
- Collaborate with peers to create quality instructional environment
- Serve as liaison between school and home for the delivery of instructional services to students who qualify for homebound services in general or special education,
TASK: Professionalism and Responsibilities
- Act in a professional and ethical manner and adhere to all times to professional
- Perform and fulfill contract responsibilities
- Perform tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of position
- Demonstrate punctuality, regular attendance, and carry out assigned duties
- Establish and maintain a positive collaborative relationship with students' families to increase student achievement
- Works with families and school staff to ensure smooth transitioning of student back into regular school setting
