DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for supporting the K-12 World Language and Dual Language Immersion Program. This position includes coaching, developing curriculum, and conducting professional learning around world languages and Dual Language Immersion pedagogies, programs, and practices.
 

• Coaches and supports teachers in planning, delivering, and assessing quality World Language instruction.
• Frequent classroom visits, observing World Language instruction to assess need, planning for instruction, modeling, co-teaching, consulting, leading guided reflection, and offering supportive and specific feedback to teachers as needed.
• Demonstrates self-reliance in mastering new technologies and instructional teaching strategies.
• Assists teachers in analyzing data to guide instruction and plan targeted interventions.
• Supports the work of teams by attending and participating in team meetings as needed.
• Attends and participates in monthly division and school-based leadership meetings and trainings.
• Assists curriculum writing teams and the curriculum leader in revising and developing curriculum and assessments for the World Language and Dual Language Immersion Programs.
• Plans effective professional development to support teacher learning around curriculum, technology, and World Language pedagogies.
• Reviews and selects texts and supplemental materials.
• Attends and participates in professional development to improve and maintain knowledge of content, instructional strategies, coaching skills, and adult learning theory.
• Analyzes data and uses information to determine the effectiveness of instructional methods and programs to drive recommended revisions and improvements
• Other related duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
 

• Virginia teaching license with a foreign language endorsement required.
• Administration and supervision endorsement preferred.
• At least three years of teaching experience.
• Bilingual (Spanish preferred).
• Extensive and current experience in second language acquisition.
• Understanding of VDOE World Language Standards of Learning.
• Excellent organizational, planning, and human relations skills.
• Ability to deliver clear, articulate, and grammatically correct oral presentations as well as accurate and punctual written communications.
• Demonstrate professionalism by working cooperatively with other staff members.
• Demonstrate team and relationship-building practices with teachers.
• Demonstrate diplomacy in all interactions with the school community.
