Job Title:                MECHATRONICS TEACHER                           Exemption Status: Exempt

Qualifications:
Tennessee Educator License in Manufacturing 6-12 (760)
 
In the absence of the required Tennessee Educator Occupational Teacher license, one of the following pathways is required for an initial license:

  1. Minimum Education High School Diploma with:
    1. Three (3) years of relevant work experience, completed within the last five (5) years;
    2. Five (5) years of relevant work experience, completed within the last ten (10) years;  
    3. Two (2) years of relevant work experience, completed within the last ten (10) years and a postsecondary technical school certificate in Manufacturing Operations/Technology;       
    4. One (1) year of relevant work experience, completed within the last ten (10) years and an
      Associate degree in Manufacturing Operations/Technology; or
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Operations/Technology
 
Example Qualifying Experience: Computer-aided drafting (CAD), electronic engineer, electronic semi-conductor processor, electronic technician, engineer, industrial maintenance, industrial production manager, machinist, numerical control machine tool programmer, plant manager, postsecondary technical school instructor in endorsement area.
 
  1. Minimum Education High School Diploma with Industry Certification
    • National Institute of Metalworking Skills (NIMS) Certification;
    • Siemens Mechatronic Systems Certification Program (SMSCP) Instructor Certification – Level 1;
    • Certified Production Technician (CPT);
    • Certified Manufacturing Associate;
    • U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship; or
    • Any directly aligned Tier 2 or 3 credential in the Industrial Maintenance, Machining Technology, or Mechatronics programs of study within the Advanced Manufacturing career cluster of Tennessee Promoted Student Industry Credentials

Universal Expectations:
 
Work with/report to Building Principal to perform the following responsibilities:
 
  1. If through licensure requirements the need to enroll in a state approved EPP program, the applicant will do so and complete all state required examinations within the first three years of employment.
  2. Determine, through student data, the level of prior knowledge. Then, provide a plan of instruction that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students.
  3. Follow all accommodations and modifications deemed appropriate by an IEP, 504, or administrative agreement.
  4. Arrive to the campus punctually and remain present and engaged for all work hours as determined by principal.
  5. This position requires extra duties of providing leadership and advisement in CTSO extracurricular activities.
  6. Work with colleagues to establish and maintain a collaborative environment for planning, delivering, and reflecting on instruction and student data. Attend all building-level and district PLC’s.
  7. Maintain a classroom culture that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity of students. Set standards for appropriate behavior, communication, and mutual respect.
  8. Develop appropriate syllabi, lesson plans, pacing guides and provide evidence when requested.
  9. Facilitate learning for students using only Tennessee Curriculum Standards and curriculum that is vetted and approved by the McMinn Board of Education.
  10. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and technology for brick & mortar students as well as students who are alternatively placed, or on homebound status.
  11. Monitor students’ progress toward mastery of standards via formative assessments and recognize accomplishments as appropriate and applicable.
  12. Protect and maintain students, equipment, materials, and facilities and the accurate reporting of classroom inventory.
  13. Maintain and communicate accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, policy, and administrative regulation.
  14. Enforce and reinforce school policies and procedures.
  15. Attend staff meetings, perform extra duties, staff development, and actively lead and engage in related CTSO’s, and serve on committees as required.
 
Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated in accordance with evaluation procedures, policy, and regulations of the Tennessee Department of Education.
