Position Title: Writing Coach
Reports To: High School Principal
Site Location: High School
Classification: Hourly
Salary: $30.00 an hour Length of Duties:
Responsibilities:
Work directly with students to improve writing skills, including organization, grammar style, and content.
Offer one-on-one or small group writing conferences to provide targeted feedback.
Helps students improve their writing across genres, including essay, research papers, creative writing, and multimedia projects.
Support students with specific challenges such as organization, clarity, coherence, or writing fluency.
Collaborate or modifications for students with writing-related challenges (e.g., dysgraphia, ADHD).
Help create or maintain a school writing center, providing a space for students to receive extra writing help, peer tutoring, or access to writing resources.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Literacy, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
State certification in English, Language Arts or related field (preferred).
3-5 years of teaching experience, with a strong background in reading instruction.
Expertise in writing pedagogy, including knowledge of various writing form and grammar instruction
Deep knowledge of and experience in content, instructional strategies, and assessment driven instruction
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a professional manner both orally and in writing
Demonstrated strength in organization, communication skills and efficiency in meeting deadlines
Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative member of a team
Demonstrated interest, passion and engagement in professional learning and reflection
Ability to multitask, work under pressure and follow through consistently.
