.5 Library Media Specialist: (works 4 hours per day)
Maintains school library collections of books, serial publications, documents, audiovisual, and other materials; assists groups and individuals in locating and obtaining materials and plans and administers program of library services. Compiles records, sorts and shelves books, and issues and receives library materials by performing the following duties.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:• Promotes Library services and use; furnishes information on library activities, facilities, rules and services.
• Provides library public relations services.
• Describes or demonstrates procedures for searching catalog files.
• Locates books and publications for students and staff.
• Maintains current media database on computer.
• Records identifying data and due date on cards to issue books to students.
• Reviews records to compile list of overdue books and issues overdue notices to borrowers.
• Inspects returned books for damage, verifies due date, and computes and receives overdue fines.
• Sorts books, publications, and other items according to classification code and returns them to shelves, files.
• Operates Library machines and multimedia equipment.
• Analyzes, selects, and executes recommendations of principal, and assistant principal.
• Reviews and evaluates orders for books and audiovisual materials.
• Examines and selects materials to be discarded, repaired or replaced.
• Other duties as assigned.

- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Positions in this department typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting for extended periods of time, or other factors applicable to this job
- Employees may be required to lift or exert up to 25 pounds of force to move objects occasionally, and up to 50 pounds of force to move objects occasionally
