Recreational Therapist, Part-time Position
Job Title: Recreational Therapist
Credentials: Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy and licensed and certified as a Recreational Therapist CTR/L
Training or experience: Experience preferred, but not required
Reports to: Executive Director of Support Services
Contract: 185-CSalary Schedule: Support Salary Schedule for OT/PT
Classification: Exempt
Essential Job Functions:
Conduct assessments of recreation and leisure functioning to determine the
current functional strengths and needs of students in the educational environment.
Develops and/or implements strategies/therapeutic interventions to restore,
remediate, and rehabilitate functional abilities and independence in life activities.
Provide services to facilitate the full participation of children and youth with
disabilities, in school and community programs.
Serves as a resource for and provides consultation to parents and educational
staff to incorporate recreation and leisure education concepts at home and in the
classroom.
Communicates and consults with school staff, families and other stakeholders
regarding student recreational services, assessment results and progress.
Maintain accurate records and documentation of student treatment plans and their progress.
Attends required meetings, as needed.
Provides in-service training for staff and families, if required.
Abides by all district policies and state/federal laws.
Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Technical: able to work with district technology systems to include special education IEP software. Able to utilize Google Suite, including but not limited to, Google Docs, Google Sheets, etc.
Interpersonal: The candidate must exhibit excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with staff, students and parents. Must be able to model and implement behavior strategies to support staff and students struggling with behavior. Must exhibit sound judgment in dealing with people. Must have strong organizational skills. Must be able to maintain harmonious relationships with staff, students, and parents.
