Cedar High School is hiring a Part Time ISS Paraprofessional to work 27.5 hours a week. This position will remain open until filled.
The part time ISS paraprofessional is under the direction of the school principal, working with the School Counselor, and/or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and Special Education Educator, assist students who have moderate to intensive behavior needs requiring additional support in the ISS or In School Support room. This position may also support the implementation of behavioral programs and behavior intervention services for students so that they can return to their regular classroom in a timely manner. Establishes effective rapport with students and motivates students to develop appropriate social skills and attitudes leading toward improved behavior in order to foster greater independence in the student. Professional relations are developed and maintained with other staff.
Monitor students inside the In School Support Room.
Assists in observing and recording behavior patterns and follows appropriate techniques to reinforce acceptable behavior.
Works closely with certified educators with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises to students in the In School Support Room.
Participates in the development, maintenance, and carrying out of systems for classroom management.
Guides students in working and interacting harmoniously with other students.
Develop and teach de escalation techniques
Document behaviors daily in Educator’s Handbook and other school based recording systems
Teach school based behavioral support curriculum to students in the In School Support Room
Obtain and maintain Safety Care restraint training and certification
Regular, reliable, predictable attendance and job performance is required
Operates various types of office and audio visual equipment such as computers, iPads, headphones, copy machines, etc.
Must have basic computer knowledge, be familiar with Google docs and check email frequently. Must be willing to learn and use all computer systems and software as needed.
