Description
Maria Montessori Academy in North Ogden, Utah, seeks a dynamic and Montessori-trained Career and Technical Education (CTE) teacher to guide adolescents in grades 6-9 through a curriculum that emphasizes both technical skills and Montessori's "Erdkinder" philosophy. The ideal candidate will be passionate about combining hands-on learning experiences in vocational and technical subjects with the holistic, developmental approach of Montessori education. The CTE teacher will play a critical role in preparing students for real-world experiences, fostering independence, self-motivation, and a love for learning through both academic and practical projects.
Key Responsibilities:
CTE Instruction: Design and deliver CTE curriculum focused on practical and technical skills such as engineering, technology, agriculture, business, or trades, integrating Montessori principles of independence and self-directed learning. Erdkinder Implementation: Incorporate the Montessori "Erdkinder" model, which emphasizes experiential learning, community involvement, and the development of life skills through work in nature, entrepreneurship, and collaboration. Facilitate hands-on projects that align with Montessori’s vision of preparing adolescents for adulthood and society. Project-Based Learning: Guide students through real-world projects, such as small business ventures, agricultural work, or technical innovations, giving them opportunities to apply academic knowledge in practical contexts. Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other teachers to integrate CTE subjects with core academic subjects like math, science, and humanities, fostering a comprehensive, project-based learning environment. Student-Centered Learning: Create a prepared environment where students are encouraged to pursue their own interests within the CTE curriculum, while providing individualized guidance and support to meet their developmental and educational needs. Classroom and Community Leadership: Help students cultivate leadership and teamwork skills, guiding them in projects that benefit the school community, the local environment, or other real-world contexts. Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Develop and implement assessment methods that measure both technical skills and broader developmental outcomes, including creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. Keep accurate records and communicate regularly with parents and colleagues about student progress. Professional Development: Stay informed about current trends in CTE and Montessori education, and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practices.
Compensation and Benefits:
Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications. Health, dental, and vision insurance options. Professional development opportunities. Support for additional Montessori or CTE training, if needed.
