Job Description:
Southampton County Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Education (SPED) Inclusion PreK Teacher to join our team at Riverdale Elementary School. The SPED Inclusion PreK Teacher will be responsible for providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment for young children with disabilities alongside their typically developing peers. This role involves collaborating with families, paraprofessionals, and other educators to create a nurturing and engaging classroom that fosters the development of all students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each child in an inclusive setting.
- Provide direct instruction to both students with disabilities and typically developing peers, promoting social interaction and learning.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting instructional strategies to support individual growth and development.
- Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages cooperation, respect, and active participation among all students.
- Collaborate with families to create a partnership that supports each child's learning and development, providing resources and strategies for home support.
- Work closely with paraprofessionals and other specialists to ensure effective implementation of instructional plans and support services.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and IEP compliance.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood special education and inclusion.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid state teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education or Early Childhood Education.
- Knowledge of special education laws, IEP processes, and best practices for supporting young children with disabilities in an inclusive setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Experience working with young children with disabilities is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with early childhood assessment tools and intervention strategies.
- Experience in an inclusive preschool or early childhood setting.
- Knowledge of inclusive practices and adaptive strategies to support diverse learners.
