Job Description:
Southampton County Public Schools is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher to join our team at Riverdale Elementary School. The ECSE Teacher will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction and support to young children with disabilities, fostering their development and promoting their readiness for school. This role involves collaboration with families, therapists, and other educators to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each child.
- Provide direct instruction in a variety of settings, including individual, small group, and inclusive classroom environments.
- Assess and monitor student progress, adapting instruction as needed to support growth and development.
- Collaborate with families and caregivers to create a partnership that supports each child’s learning and development.
- Work closely with other professionals, including speech therapists, occupational therapists, and social workers, to deliver comprehensive support to students.
- Create a positive, engaging, and safe classroom environment that promotes learning and social interaction.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and IEP compliance.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood special education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Early Childhood Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid state teaching license with an endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education.
- Knowledge of special education laws, IEP processes, and best practices for supporting young children with disabilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Experience working with young children with disabilities is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with early childhood assessment tools and intervention strategies.
- Experience in a preschool or early childhood setting.
- Knowledge of inclusive practices and adaptive strategies to support diverse learners.
