TITLE: MASTER MAINTENANCE
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in the English language.
3. Demonstrated ability to perform skilled repairs of school district facilities/property and grounds maintenance.
- Valid Florida Drivers License, CDL Class A or B, within one (1) year of employment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
- Ability to return to work for unscheduled hours in an emergency and/or work overtime when necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups and serve as a group/team leader.
- Eight years experience as a HCSB Maintenance Dept. employee or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to assist and/or deliver basic work related instruction to entry, basic, or semi- skill level employees.
- Successful completion of related coursework equivalent to 240 hours or 12 college credits.
- Demonstrates knowledge of State, Federal, and other applicable building codes, regulations, and guidelines.
- Such alternatives to the above minimum qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Area Forman or designated Supervisor
JOB GOAL: To perform and oversee maintenance and repair services to School District property in a safe and effective manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Assesses the need for and performs maintenance and repairs as necessary
2. Participates in maintaining safe and clean workplace
3. Responsible for all tools, equipment, etc. personally assigned.
4. Completes work orders, reports and other paperwork as required.
5. Performs routine duties involving the maintenance and repair of tools and equipment.
6. Complies with applicable safety procedures and codes.
7. Participates in all safety training and related training activities as directed.
8. Serves on a 24 hour emergency duty call as assigned.
9. Assists and/or delivers basic work related instruction to entry or basic skill level employees.
10. Operates School District owned vehicles as necessary.
11. Recommends the purchase of necessary supplies and equipment to the Supervisor.
- Prepares cost estimates on small repair and alteration jobs.
- Serves as a group/team leader as necessary.
- Has a general knowledge of all district needed trade areas and will complete and supervise any area of maintenance to which assigned.
- Participates in the supervising of maintenance department inventory.
- Provides input into the planning and budgeting activities of the maintenance department.
- Assumes the responsibilities of the Area Maintenance Foreman in his absence.
- Participates in overtime duties as assigned.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Participates as part of the leadership team for quality improvement activities of the maintenance department.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
1. Position requires exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
2. Lift, climb, bend, and kneel in order to complete assigned tasks.
3. Tolerate working at heights off a ladder or scaffold.
4. Assumes the responsibility to report for evacuation shelter support in the event of an emergency and any other duties assigned during an emergency evacuation.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work year (12 months) and salary as established through the collective bargaining process.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be assessed annually by the Area Foreman or Supervisor.
