Job Summary:
The IT Systems Administrator plays a critical role in supporting and maintaining the IT infrastructure of Tooele County School District. This position assists the Network Operations Supervisor, Information Security Officer, and IT Director in managing various systems that form the district's technology backbone. The IT Systems Administrator handles several responsibilities, including troubleshooting network issues, configuring hardware, and ensuring optimal system performance for end users. Additionally, this role oversees several key programs and systems related to security, device management, and user administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- System and Network Administration: Install, configure, and maintain servers, switches, routers, and other network devices. Monitor network performance and resolve any issues that arise.
- User Support: Provide advanced troubleshooting for end users, diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues, and ensuring systems are functional.
- Program Management: Oversee critical systems, including:
- Microsoft Intune and Autopilot: Manage device deployment and configuration processes.
- Google Cloud Directory Sync (GCDS): Ensure synchronization between Google Workspace and on-premise directories.
- Content Keeper: Administer web filtering, monitoring, and settings.
- Microsoft Entra: Handle identity and access management for secure cloud resources.
- Microsoft Admin Center: Maintain user administration, group policies, and system settings.
- Bark Monitoring: Assist with the monitoring and protection of students' online activities.
- Mosyle: Manage Apple devices through Mosyle and Apple School Manager.
- Other: Azure AD, Active Directory, Google Admin Console, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), and VMware.
- Security Systems: Implement and manage security protocols, including monitoring systems and security tickets from various programs for potential cybersecurity threats. Conduct routine security audits and ensure systems are compliant with data protection regulations.
- Backup and Recovery: Perform regular backups and implement disaster recovery plans to prevent data loss and ensure quick restoration in the event of system failures.
- Imaging and Software Deployment: Create and maintain workstation images using Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM). Install and configure operating systems and applications across devices efficiently.
- Virtual and Physical Server Configuration: Configure virtual and physical servers using Microsoft server operating systems, ensuring they are optimized for performance and security.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation of system configurations, network layouts, and all processes related to IT management.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with the IT staff, attend meetings, and participate in planning discussions. Provide timely feedback and solutions on technology issues and strategies.
- Training: Create and conduct training for staff and faculty on key systems and programs, ensuring they understand how to use technology tools.
- Student Testing Program Management: Oversee the function of assessment programs such as Aspire +, WIDA, and other district-wide testing platforms.
- Automation and Efficiency: Develop scripts and use automation tools to streamline IT processes and reduce manual effort.
- Provide on-site or remote support to district personnel as needed.
- Ensure hardware replacement or repair is quickly arranged in the event of failure.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- A high school diploma is required; a bachelor's degree in technology or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security +, or other certifications as determined by the IT Director.
- Previous experience in help desk or system administration roles preferred.
- Proficiency with operating systems such as Windows, macOS, and Linux.
- Experience in scripting (e.g., PowerShell) and automating tasks.
- Familiarity with education environments and IT infrastructure management.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, technical, and troubleshooting abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Must possess an ability to collaborate and communicate clearly and effectively, with all types of people.

This position requires travel between school sites within the district. The role involves both desk work and frequent physical activity for installing hardware or troubleshooting on-site.
Contract Details:
- Full-time - FLSA Exempt
- Eligible for benefits, including 12 days of sick leave and 24 days of annual leave per fiscal year.
- Salary Range: District Administrative Salary Schedule FY25
- 260-day contract
