Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Principal and/or other designated administrator, the Teacher develops and implements an instructional program that will effectively meet the needs of all students. The Teacher assesses and evaluates student performance and modifies instructional activities as appropriate.
Qualifications:
Holds or is eligible for Virginia teaching licensure with the appropriate endorsement (Science- Biology Preferred)
Demonstrates current and accurate knowledge of subject matter addressed in the curriculum
Ability to make independent decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
Excellent communication and computer skills
Ability to work with diverse student, parent, and school community
Responsibilities:
Plans instruction to achieve desired learning objectives that reflect current division and state curriculum standards
Creates a positive classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning
Adapts and adjusts instructional techniques to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of all students
Provides a variety of ongoing and culminating assessments to measure student performance
Initiates and maintains timely communication with parents/guardians and administrators concerning student progress
Works collaboratively with school staff, families, and community agencies to support student success
Demonstrates professional, moral, and ethical behavior and exhibits personal integrity in all interactions
Participates in an ongoing process of professional development
Performs other duties as assigned by school administrator
Physical Requirements: Average amount of climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions required.
