Utah Connections Academy (UCA) is a tuition-free, online public school that serves students in grades K–12 throughout Utah. UCA is authorized under state law by the Utah State Charter School Board and governed by an independent Board of Directors. The school is operated by Utah Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Utah, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. UCA is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, the Northwest Accreditation Commission, and the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI), which are accrediting divisions of Cognia.

Position Summary and Responsibilities
Working full-time 8am - 4pm MST from your home office in Utah, the High School ELA Interventionist will supervise and provide explicit instruction to students in a virtual face-to-face setting while utilizing an online teaching model and materials. Through the use of the telephone, internet, and various curriculum tools, the High School ELA Interventionist will communicate regularly with classroom teachers, parents, and students, to ensure that struggling students are identified so targeted instruction techniques can be devised and applied. The High School ELA Interventionist will work with the interventionist team to provide each student an opportunity to successfully complete their instructional program.
The High School ELA Interventionist will be responsible for the successful completion of the following tasks:
-Understand the Utah Core English Language Arts Standards for grades 9-12 to ensure that instruction is standards-based and age-appropriate;
-Collaborate with classroom teachers to devise targeted lessons for struggling students;
-Provide diagnostic, prescriptive, and evaluative services for identified students;
-Prepare and deliver data-driven individual and small group instruction for identified students;
-Assist with the administration of state tests and other required state exams;
-Confer with the leadership team on the needs of students and provide effective interventions and strategy suggestions;
-Act as a mentoring teacher in the area of English to classroom teachers by assisting them in the selection of materials, and implementation of teaching techniques to ensure the instructional program meets Utah Core Standards and the needs of students;
-Model effective instruction practices;
-Provide data and information to parents;
-Support the instructional program through continued Professional Learning opportunities and asynchronous/synchronous instruction;
-Communicate with parents, students, and other teachers on a regular basis to develop and update Personal Learning Plans;
-Collaborate with teachers to ensure that all students are successfully progressing through the program;
-Keep tiered intervention records and data up-to-date including online student and family information, attendance accounting, grading, and logging all student and parent contacts;
-Build and maintain trusting relationships with students, families, and stakeholders to contribute to a positive school community; and
-Other duties as assigned.
