We seek an Exceptional Student Education Specialist
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Understands central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structure of learning and how to support exceptional students and their families. Develops a climate and culture of openness, fairness, mutual respect, support and inquiry. Listens and interacts effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community members, respecting diverse perspectives. Demonstrates respect for students, colleagues, administrators, and parents. Works effectively with school colleagues, parents, and the community to support students’ learning and well-being. Adheres to all Special Education laws and is able to coordinate meetings with district and school personnel to address exceptional student learning needs, goals and objectives. Provides positive and constructive feedback to students and is able to monitor and measure student growth as outlined in IEP. Writes and updates IEP and 504 accommodation plans based on student learning goals and objectives.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college or university is required. Possession of, or eligibility in Exceptional Student Education (ESE) license and/or a Florida teaching certificate. Master’s degree, ESOL and Gifted endorsement preferred. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively in a diverse environment. Demonstrated organizational and managerial abilities. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to use sound judgment to solve problems and make decisions independently.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary amounts are set annually by the Executive Director. Consistent with the requirements of Florida statute, this school uses a performance based salary schedule for all new employees whereby pay increases are based on teacher evaluation results from the previous year.
